List Your Business / ADSrivilliputhur: The Copper Chariot was held with great fanfare on Saturday morning at the Vadaperungoiludayon Puratasi Brahmotsavam at Srivilliputhur Andal Temple.
Srivilliputhur Andal Temple, which is famous among the 108 Vaishnava Divya Desams, is known as Mupuri Ootiya Thalam due to the special incarnation of the three Moolavar Vadabhadrasai (Great Perumal), Periyalwar and Andal.
Puratasi Thiruvonam, the incarnation of Periya Perumal, Ani Swathi, the incarnation of Periyalvar, and Aadipuram, the incarnation of Andal, are celebrated with much vibrancy.
This year Puratasi Brahmotsavam started with flag hoisting on 4th October. Every night during the Pramotsava festival, Periya Perumal gets up on Chandraprabai, Hanuman, Elephant and Golden Sesha vehicles and strolls down the road to bless the devotees.
On the 5th day of the festival, Garuda Seva was held on October 8th, Sridevi Bhoodevi Sametha Periya Perumal Thirukalyanam was held on 9th at 3 pm, and Sayana Seva was held on 10th. On the morning of the 9th Saturday, a Copper Chariot was held in honor of the Thiruvonam Nakshatra incarnated by Periya Perumal.
Earlier, a special Thirumanjanam and special Pujas were held for Sri Devi-Budevi Sametha Periya Perumal. After that, the Chariot procession was held through the four Ratha streets in which the great Perumal Sridevi-Budevi appeared in a copper chariot in full adornment.
Thousands of devotees pulled chariots holding ropes to go in procession as Vaishnava Acharyas chanted Tirupallandu.
Board of Trustees Chairman P.R. Venkataramaraja and members, Executive Officer Chakrayamal, Hindu Religious Charities Department officials made the arrangements.
